Understanding Stelliums – How You Can Find Out about Them
Did your astrologer, astrology teacher, or a friend who studies astrology tell you that you have a stellium in your birth chart? Were they able to analyze it for you, or were you left wanting to know more about this powerful combination and how it applies to you?
Let’s get the basics out of the way first. There are two kinds of stelliums. One is a stellium by sign, made up of four or more planets in the same zodiac sign, but not necessarily in the same house of your astrology chart. The other is a stellium by house, in which there are four or more planets in the same house, but not necessarily the same sign. If the planets are in the same sign and house, their impact is stronger.
With so much energy centered in one place, there’s a laser-like focus on the personality traits or areas of life it represents. It identifies something special about you — a complicated combination of issues, interests, and gifts that may be a major part of your life purpose. It’s often a career indicator. It’s certainly your passion!
The most potent stelliums occur when two of the slower-moving planets—Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto—stand close together in the sky. This happens infrequently because of their long orbits around the Sun, but for the past 50 years, there have been an unusual series.
Slow-moving conjunctions formed cores of stelliums in the signs Virgo through Aquarius between 1960 and 2010. It’s unusual for so many of these conjunctions to occur in a 50-year span. Because of this series, there are possibly more people alive today with stelliums than ever before, given the steady increase in world population.
Because I have a stellium myself and have focused on understanding and mastering these combinations, I wrote The Stellium Handbook—An Owner’s Manual. It’s a combination astrology/self-help book, in language that everyone from professional astrologer to the newcomer can understand.
An entire chapter of the book is devoted to the rare and historic combination of Uranus, Neptune, and Saturn in Capricorn that occurred in 1988-89, with 413 MILLION people born around the globe with that challenging combination in their birth charts. These young people are coming to astrologers in droves in order to understand themselves and find their place in the world, and we astrologers need to be prepared.
